Reverend Gordon Kisseih of the Life International Church has described the murdered pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Tema as a martyr.

He is convinced that although the sudden death of Rev David Nabegmado has shaken some Christians, “the church will rise up strong.”

The Tema Community Four Central Assemblies of God Church pastor was stabbed to death on Sunday while preparing to deliver a sermon in the morning.

Rev. David Nabegmado was stabbed multiple times at the church premises by a man said to be his nephew, Francis Nabegmado.

The pastor was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his stab wounds before he could be attended to.

Martyr

Reacting to the incident during a sermon, Rev. Gordon Kisseih urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith.

“God is a God of love. Anybody who thinks the house of the lord is in chaos that person is a lair…James was martyred…but the church rose up to pray and when the church began to pray, revival broke out.

“So everyone must be alert that our brother has given his life as a martyr and God honours the blood of martyrs. So if he died as a martyr, his blood shall be honoured. Our brother is a true man of God. He has served God, he has worshipped God and he has loved God faithfully,” he said.

General Secretary of the Christian Council, Rev Cyril Fayose, has also downplayed suggestions that churches should engage the services of security agencies to protect pastors and members.

He wants the church to be vigilant instead.

Mentally stable

Meanwhile, police said the 31-year-old man who stabbed and killed the pastor, has not shown any sign of mental disorder after his arrest.

Police admit that although they will have to wait for psychiatrists to prove the claim by a section of the public that the suspect is mentally unstable, on the face of it, the suspect appears sound.
