On Friday a new Ya-Na, the overlord of the Dagbon Traditional area, was enskinned in an elaborate ceremony in the Northern Region.

It was a momentous occasion because this chieftaincy dispute has probably run the longest in Ghanaian history with two factions, the Abudus and Andanis both vying for the seat leading to numerous violent clashes over the years and the murder of the last Ya-Na in 2002.

Luckily for the people of Dagbon, it all came to a peaceful climax on Friday, for now at least, as a new Ya-Na was enskinned.

And the occasion lived up to its billing with some of the biggest names in Ghanaian politics turning up in solidarity.

The event also massively trended due to the fact that everyone turned up in Batakari and people like the President and General Mosquito looked quite funny in their attire.
