The presidential pardon granted the Montie FM presenter and two panelists has got private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, to embark on a 10-day hunger strike.


The disgruntled private lawyer has revealed that during his hunger strike, he will also be embarking on a nationwide campaign against President Mahama ahead of the December elections.
President Mahama is documented to have pardoned the three inmates under “compassionate grounds” after advice from the council of state.

“President Mahama will pay dearly politically for free the Montie 3; he cannot do things to please his party to the detriment of majority of Ghanaians,” he fumed.


Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn and show host, Salifu Maase of an Accra-based radio station, Montie FM were sentenced to four months imprisonment by the Supreme Court on July 27, 2016, for threatening to kill judges of the court. The three were also fined 10,000 cedis each while the owners of the frequency of the radio station, and the directors were fined 30,000 cedis respectively.
